International Women's Day 2024

Friday, March 8th is International Women's Day!
"Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress"
A pair of donors has made a generous 200% matching offer to support Single Moms in our Single Parents Fund! for every $1 you donate, we will receive $2 from these donors up to $25,000 in total matching! We are now accepting donations to this fund under this matching starting today through March 18th!

Since 2008, P2P has made over 50,000 zero-percent loans with a 99% repayment rate with over 97% of all donations going directly into our loan programs. The first donation we received in 2008 will still be making new loans in 2100!

You can make your doantion to the Single Parents Fund at the link below or if you'd rather donate to a different fund (Women's, Education, Personal Housing, Youth (24 & under), Artisans, Agriculture, Memorial Wall), you can do that directly on our website: Click Here.

Bárbara Esperanza's story (a recent single mom who received a loan from us):
Bárbara is 32 years old, is a single mother, and her three children are students and depend on her. Bárbara has worked making and selling food for the last three years. The business is located near her house and she works from 8:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening. She will use the loan to buy seafood and condiments for her business making and selling food. Bárbara dreams of always giving the best to her children.

Agriculture Fund Launch

Thanks to a donor who is offering a donation match, we are launching our Agriculture Fund. Access to quality, nutritious food is fundamental to human existence. Secure access to food can produce wide ranging positive impacts including economic growth and job creation. Farmers are a robust source of jobs for others. Thanks to this donor every donation we receive to help launch this fund will be 100% matched up to $25,000 until 12/31/23! To donate to this fund: Click Here.

End of Year 2022 Progress Note

We'd like to post an update about how P2P is doing through the back-end of the COVID pandemic because it did affect our program. From 2008 to the beginning of 2020, our philosophy was to have as much of our funds as possible out in the field helping people. As soon as we received repayments, we would quickly find new borrowers for that money. For the first time in our history, we made the cautious decision to slow down our loaning when COVID hit in early 2020. At one point, we put all of our new loaning on pause while we waited for continents like Africa to catch up on vaccinations which was as low as 15% for some time. At the end of 2021, we started to ramp up our loaning again only to have Omicron hit, so we paused briefly again to see how this variant would proceed. In mid-2022, we resumed picking up the pace of our loaning and continue to do so at about the same pace as pre-COVID. That said, COVID did affect our repayment rate. From 2008-2020, we had a 99.45% repayment rate, but COVID caused the biggest hit on that rate lowering it to 98.99% which we feel is still quite amazing. On a bright note, our Personal Housing Fund's repayment rate actually rose during COVID which was quite surprising. We look forward to continuing our return to aggressive loaning in 2023.

$7,500 Matched Funds to Start Artisans Fund for #GivingTuesday 2021

P2P has exciting news for #GivingTuesday! We are adding a fund (our 15th) to support Artisans and we have been offered $7,500 in 100% matching funds to start it! Artisans have some of the highest repayment rates of any loans we currently make. For example, one of our partners, Novica, has a 100% repayment rate so far! That's not a single defaulted loan in over 9 years! Because these artists are selling their goods, more often than not, they repay their loans back to us EARLY! Please help us start the Artisans Fund with your #GivingTuesday donation.

Donate Here: Click Here

If the Artisan Fund doesn't interest you, we have funds for youth (24 & under), single parents, women entrepreneurs, USA-only borrowers, education, personal housing, and an honor/memorial fund to recognize someone in your life (you can pick on our site at donations link above).

About P2P: We have been making 0% interest loans since 2008 and have made ~25,000 loans with a 99.45% repayment rate. We have a 100% volunteer staff, so since 2008, over 97% of donations have gone directly into our loan-making program. When we receive repayments, we put them right back out in the form of new loans. Due to our repayment rate, the founding donation we received in 2008 will still be making loans in 2100.

Poverty2Prosperity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has a $10,000 matching donation grant to any of our targeted funds (see list below) through the end of the year. You may donate to any of our funds and it will be matched 100% up to $10,000 but we only get the matched $10,000 if we get $10,000 in donations. #GivingTuesday 2020 for USA Borrowers

I founded the non-profit, Poverty2Prosperity.org, in 2008 to make zero percent interest loans to the working poor around the world. I wanted to share our #GivingTuesday campaign which focuses on getting more loans to USA borrowers!

Over the last seven days, the United States has had more than 2X as many deaths from COVID-19 as any other country. Compared to India, which has 4X the population of the United States (1.366 billion vs 328 million), the United States has 3X the death rate. Overall, India has managed a death rate per million of under 100 while the United States, sadly, is losing 800 people per million. This is why our #GivingTuesday campaign this year will focus right here at home in the United States with our USA Fund. We would like to provide more zero percent interest loans to people suffering in the United States. Earlier this year, we were able to give significant support to those in the United States including one borrower in our home town (for the first time). You can read more about Valeria below.

For those that don't know, Poverty2Prosperity.org was founded in 2008 to make zero percent interest loans around the world. Over our 12+ years, we have managed a 99.45% repayment rate with over 97% of donations going directly into making loans. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no salaries and we keep our overhead as low as possible. We have a number of different funds including those for Education, Women Entrepreneurs, Personal Housing, Single Parents, and Youth (24 and under).

"Valeria is a single mother with two daughters, 19 and 10 years old living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 emergency which has put her job on hold. Valeria is experienced in event planning and has job opportunities with a local event production company as soon as work picks up in the area again. She also has years of experience as a nanny and can provide childcare."

#GivingTuesday 2019

#GivingTuesday is coming this December 3rd. We're going to be focusing on our 0% interest loans for Education We're hoping you'll consider P2P's Education Fund. See the compelling details below about what we're working on in this area! Please share! P2P is 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization. Donations to any of our funds are tax deductible.

Over the 10+ years that Poverty2Prosperity.org (P2P) has been making zero-percent interest loans to the working poor around the world, we’ve been able to expand our portfolio of funds from not only supporting entrepreneurs, but to also include some special areas that we believe are also critical in alleviating poverty (e.g. personal housing, youth (24 & under), women, USA borrowers, single parents). This #GivingTuesday (December 3rd) we will be focusing our fundraising efforts towards our Education Fund.

P2P established the Education Fund in 2015 which is dedicated to making loans for education and tuition fees. We believe that another way to break the cycle of poverty is by obtaining a solid education and providing resources for educators to help those seeking an education. Those who are given the opportunity to obtain an education earn more, have children later, and have fewer children, which all increase resources available to the children that they do have. This also helps mothers and babies/children to be healthier. An education not only helps the current generation, but helps the next one too as they too are more likely to be educated. To date, the Education Fund is closing in on its 1,000th loans (933 loans so far) and has a repayment rate of 99.43%. We’re hoping you’ll consider P2P’s Education Fund in your #GivingTuesday generosity. Our most recent loan is to Andrea Diana in Paraguay who studies computer engineering. “By means of her studies, she wants to clear a path to the working world, and with this also be able to be useful to her family. She currently works in a bar while she is in school, and she says that her goal is to be able to finish her studies in the best way and to be able to achieve her goal of being someone in life.”

P2P is a 100% volunteer organization and because of that, we have been able to put over 97% of all donations directly into making loans. When a repayment is made, 100% of it is put right back out in the form of new loans. That means donations made today, could continue making loans in the future for nearly 100 years.

Put Poverty2Prosperity.org on your calendar for December 3rd (#GivingTuesday) and help us reduce poverty around the world by putting Education within the reach of many of those struggling to live on just a few dollars a day!

If you see a fund that better suits your interests, we have several others from which to choose: a General Fund for entrepreneurship, a USA-only Fund, a Women’s Fund, a Personal Housing Fund, a Youth Fund for those 24 and younger, a Single Parent Fund, and an Honor/Memorial Wall Fund.

International Women's Day 3/8/19

Friday, March 8th is International Women's Day, and Poverty2Prosperity.org (P2P) wants to invite you to help make a difference in the lives of women. P2P makes zero percent interest loans to the working poor around the world and in the U.S. Founded in 2008, P2P has made over 20,000 loans in the past 10 years. Besides our General Fund, we have a number of funds that target specific areas to help such as education, personal housing, single parents, expiring loans, and we have one specifically for women.

For International Women's Day we are inviting everyone to make a donation to our Women's Fund to increase lending to women. There are many reasons to focus on lending to women! Women make great entrepreneurs - not only do they work hard, but they (sorry men, but it's just the data) spend a larger share of earnings on children and the general family expenses than men do (but men are catching up!). Family members have improved access to food, housing, education, and medical care. Our Women's Fund has a fantastic repayment rate and after having made over 2,500 loans, our repayment rate is 99.77%. Seriously, that's less than 1/4 of 1% who could not pay back in full. Since 100% of repayments are immediately put back into new loans, this means that a donation made today will keep making new loans for about 100 years! The in-country field partners that P2P works with often have educational components that accompany the loans, so women learn business and household skills. The field partners decide what needs the community has and will design appropriate programs to fit those needs. There are field partners which offer low cost medication to cure dehydration for children, AIDS awareness, low cost cervical cancer screenings, classes about domestic violence awareness, and, of course, bookkeeping, among many others.

Please consider a donation to Poverty2Prosperity.org, a nonprofit with 501(c)3 status which means donations are tax-deductible. We are an all-volunteer organization. Since 2008, we have been able to put 97% of all donations directly into making loans. You can donate to our Women's Fund at the following link: Click Here

#GivingTuesday for Youth Fund 11/27/18

#GivingTuesday is November 27th! Poverty2Prosperity.org is focusing on our Youth Fund this year. Our Youth Fund makes 0% interest loans to the working poor who are 24 years old or younger. Because jobs are hard to come by in many communities, especially for young, less experienced people, the Youth Fund offers a way to improve prospects for youth. Opportunity may mean the young adults have the opportunity to continue their education, build a business, or help their family-either family of origin or family they have created.

Over our 10 years of making 0% interest loans (over 20,000 so far), P2P has a 99.44% repayment rate and 97% of all donations have gone directly into making loans. Our staff is 100% volunteer. Donations made on Giving Tuesday will continue to make new loans for about 100 years. In addition, a generous donor has offered to match the first $1,000 in donations to our Youth Fund on #GivingTuesday, so getting your donation matched means your donation does 200 years of work! P2P is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit which means that all donations are tax-deductible.

Donations may be made through our web site here to our Youth Fund or any of our funds: Click Here

Poverty2Prosperity.org Celebrates 10 Years

Ten years ago today, Poverty2Prosperity.org was founded with the simple idea of providing zero-percent interest loans to the working poor - to give them a help-out rather than a hand-out. The initial $1,000 donation made then is still making new loans today. Thanks to our 99.44% repayment rate, that donation made in 2008 will still be making new loans in 2108. In addition, due to our all-volunteer staff, 97% of all donations go directly into making loans.

Since our first General Fund and over the years (20,000 loans later), we've been able to create a number of additional funds that target specific poverty-breaking areas. We now have funds for Women Entrepreneurs, Youth, Education, Personal Housing, USA-Based Borrowers (Zip), and a fund that tries to keep expiring loans from going unfunded (SOS). These funds help start businesses, help people to get and keep jobs, help to provide stable housing - all of which, in turn, helps children to be safe and to get an education.

On our tenth anniversary, we're celebrating a decade of loan making with the creation of a new fund that is targeting support for single parents. Single parents are often disadvantaged as they are responsible to both care for their children and to provide financial support for the family. Single parent households can reach 70% in some African countries where 75% of the population is living on less than $2 per day. Our Single Parent fund is aimed at providing support for these parents through starting businesses, education, and stable housing... for just a start.

We are inviting you to help celebrate our ten years with a matching donation to the Single Parent Fund. Any funds donated in the next week will be matched 100% up to a maximum of $10,000. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax-deductible. You can find the link to our Single Parent Fund on our donation page (Click Here).

International Women's Day 3/8/18

Today is International Women's Day! Poverty2Prosperity.org, the non-profit I founded in 2008, has a dedicated fund that makes 0% interest loans to women. 70% of women and their families are living in poverty. There are good reasons to loan to women who do not have access to traditional credit. Repayment rates for microloans made to women are higher than men. On average, women reinvest 80% of their income in the well-being of their children and working women are more likely to educate their daughters than men. P2P is 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit and donations are tax-deductible. Since 2008, 95% of donations have gone directly into loans and we have a 99.51% repayment rate, so donations made today will continue to help to make new loans for another 99 years! Make a donation to our Women's Fund today and you'll be helping women around the world for another 99 years! Here is a link to our donation page where you can donate directly to the Women's Fund! The Poverty2Prosperity.org Memorial Wall 2/12/18

Poverty2Prosperity.org started with just a General Fund for entrepreneurs who were living in poverty but were willing to work themselves out of it if only they were given a chance - access to credit that we all sometimes take for granted. These people do not have access to traditional credit sources. Over time, P2P has been able to establish different funds to address specific needs such as Education, Youth, Expiring Loans, Women Entrepreneurs, and Personal Housing. In 2014, we decided to add a fund so that people could make donations in honor of loved ones and others. This fund is called The Memorial Wall fund because we have a page on our website that we call a Memorial Wall in which we list donations we have received in honor and remembrance of the people (and even pets) listed on the wall which will live on our site forever.

The fund has been wonderfully successful and since its inception has made 689 loans with a 99.4% repayment rate which is not just amazing, but a testament to how honest and hard working our borrowers are. Currently, 30% of the fund is supporting agricultural loans - food production and transportation are a couple of our main targets.

Sometimes we are told why people are being honored and sometimes not. Anthony (Tony) Gooch is honored on the wall a number of times. Tony is responsible for working with P2P to establish, with a founding donation, the SOS Fund which is a fund that targets loans that are in danger of expiring to help them get funded before 30 days has elapsed. Tony passed away last year but his spirit lives on in the fund he created and the loans that his donations are funding today and well into the future.

Check out those who have been honored on the Memorial Wall on the P2P website: https://poverty2prosperity.org/memorial.html. If you’d like to honor or remember someone special to you, one way you can do it is to make a donation to the Memorial Wall fund and since the repayment rate is over 99%, that means your donation will go on making new loans in their honor for nearly 100 years! See our donation page for the Memorial Wall donation button: Click Here

Poverty 2 Prosperity, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit and donations are tax deductible. Since 2008, 95% of all donations have gone directly into making loans and we have 99.6%+ repayment rate across all funds. Donations made today will go on making new loans over and over for nearly 100 years. Our donation page with a listing of the specific funds you can support is here: Click Here. If you want to stay up to date with our activities, you can see our Facebook page, Twitter account, or join our mailing list on our About P2P page here: Click Here.

Giving Tuesday for SOS Fund 11/28/17

Tuesday, November 28th (tomorrow) is Giving Tuesday and this year, we are focusing on our SOS Fund. which is aimed at saving loans from expiring and going unfunded. We provide zero percent interest loans to the working poor and have a 99.74% repayment rate since 2008 with 95% of donations going directly into loans. Donations made for this Giving Tuesday will keep making new loans as repayments come in for about 99 years! Read more about our SOS Fund below. All Giving Tuesday donations will be put into our SOS Fund (unless specifically designated for a different fund). You can find donation buttons for all of our different funds here: Donate to Poverty2Prosperity.org.

Poverty 2 Prosperity, Inc. (P2P), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that makes loans to working poor around the world. These loans originally were for small business loans, but later expanded to additional funds to improve housing (Person Housing Fund), to fund access to educational opportunities including tuition fees and also to education providers (Education Fund), and to provide opportunities to younger people (Youth Fund - 24 and under). We even founded a Women’s only fund to provide funding to women entrepreneurs. All of these funds are about providing what’s needed for people to create, get, and keep jobs and, in some case, even employ others.

In 2012, Tony Gooch approached P2P about creating a special fund to help fund loans which might otherwise expire and go unfunded. Tony generously provided some seed money to start this fund, and he actively participated for years until he passed earlier this year. The SOS Loan Fund has had 1,198 borrowers pay back their loans! Currently, there are 344 loans in the process of paying back loans. This adds up to over 1,500 families impacted by the SOS Loan Fund.

What we love is that every month there are new repayments which allow the SOS Loan Fund to continue to invest in more families! Since our repayment rate on our funds is 99.74%, Tony’s original seed donation will go on making new loans over and over for nearly 100 years. Thanks to Tony’s vision, his passion for helping through microfinance continues. We would love to grow the impact of this fund by growing the assets. If you would like to contribute to the SOS Loan Fund, you can do so by clicking the donations button near the top of our Facebook page. We are a 501(c)(3) which means the IRS has designated us as a tax-exempt organization, so donations are tax deductible.

International Women's Day 3/8/17

Wednesday, March 8th is International Women's Day! Poverty2Prosperity.org has a number of different funds including one specifically for Women Entrepreneurs. P2P is going to make a bunch of loans to women on Wed! 70% of women and their families are living in poverty. There are good reasons to loan to women who do not have access to traditional credit. Repayment rates for microloans made to women are higher than men. On average, women reinvest 80% of their income in the well-being of their children and working women are more likely to educate their daughters than men. Support International Women's Day by empowering a woman entrepreneur to break the cycle of poverty for herself and her family through microloans! Because of P2P's 99.74% repayment rate, your donation won't just help a woman on Wednesday - it will help women over and over for the next ~99 years!

2015-Mid 2016 Progress Note

Hello to everyone from P2P!

We've been very busy making loans and so haven't sent out an our annual update on time, so this is more of a 2015 and mid-2016 report.

In 2015, Poverty2Prosperity.org had a great year in which we made over 3,000 loans. The most amazing stat is that over the past 8 years, P2P has a repayment rate of 99.74% which shows just how hard our borrowers are working and the level of commitment they have to repaying their loans, not to mention their honesty.

P2P realizes that there is more than just one way to break the cycle of poverty besides starting a business, so we created three new funds that we are excited to tell you about:

We feel very strongly that getting an education is a solid pathway to getting a job or starting a business (maybe even employing others) and lifting oneself (and others) out of poverty. Because of this, we have created an Education fund that not only makes loans to those seeking funds for tuition fees but also to education providers who need funds for resources to properly provide a good and full educational experience. We have already made 168 loans in this fund!

P2P also introduced a fund to focus on younger people who were starting businesses and we now have a Youth fund that makes loans to those who are 24 and under. Why youth? Typically, young adults have less experience and fewer resources. In many communities, there just aren't enough jobs to go around, and young adults who have less experience are left out of the work force. With a micro-loan, they have real choices. They can create their own job or get additional education to open up more possibilities. This is a fledgling fund that could use some help. If you're interested in helping us in the Youth category, we could use donations to this fund. See the donations link at the bottom of this note.

Finally, we also firmly believe that having stable housing does many great things to help end poverty. This enables people to get jobs more easily and, more importantly, keep them. It also gives parents a better chance at making education for their children a priority - giving kids a safe, worry-free place to be after school. In addition, a stable home means that a family can start a home based business. We created a Personal Housing fund to make these types of loans and have made 139 loans so far with a 100% repayment rate to date.

If you think about it, with our very high repayment rate coupled with the fact that as soon as repayments are made, we turn around and make new loans, any donations you make to P2P will be making loans over and over for the next 100 years or longer... If any of these new funds interest you, we will put your funds to good use! You can donate to these and our other existing funds (e.g. Women's Fund) at our donation page on our web site here:

http://Poverty2Prosperity.org/donation.html

Lastly, if you do shop on Amazon.com, you can select Poverty2Prosperity.org as your supported charity and we will get a portion of what you spend there. Use the following link to use Amazon Smile!

http://smile.amazon.com/ch/26-3542359

Poverty2Prosperity.org is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Donations to P2P are tax deductible. Consult with a tax adviser for more information.

2014 Progress Note

It's a little late, but here is our 2014 progress note (Scott has been battling being a bit sick this 2015). Poverty2Prosperity.org had one of its most successful years to date. We added the most number of new funds in a single year with five new funds being added:

1. The Susanne Chassay Memorial Perpetual Fund
2. The Cassandre Jade Memorial Perpetual Fund
3. The Memorial Wall Perpetual Fund
The Memorial Wall Perpetual Fund allows you to honor loved ones with a
recognized donation and permanent entry onto our site's Memorial Wall.

https://poverty2prosperity.org/memorial.html
5.The Gilbert Gong Perpetual Fund 6.The Women's Only Perpetual Fund - This fund is used to fund microloans to women exclusively and was a result of the fundraising success we had on Global Giving. Funding is always open for this fund through or donation page: http://Poverty2Prosperity.org/donation.html

During September 2014, Poverty2Prosperity.org took on the Global Giving challenge in order to attempt to be certified and listed by the Global Giving site. Global Giving helps corporations and individuals vet non-profits and with their stamp of approval, more doors for donations are open to P2P. We were able to meet the criteria of raising $5,000 with 40 or more unique donors in just the first week of September after which we were in 3rd place of 369 organizations. In the end, we raised over $6,000 from over 80 donors and finished in 8th place.

February 3rd, 2015 - $500 Matching

Poverty2Prosperity.org is pleased to announce that an anonymous donor has made a $500 matching donation - for every dollar donated up to $500, the donor will match the donation dollar for dollar (100%). These funds will be used to kickoff our Education Perpetual Fund. You can find the Education Fund donation link on our Donations page.

October 16th, 2014 - Women's Only Perpetual Fund

Poverty2Prosperity.org is pleased to announce it's eleventh fund. Through a successful campaign, we have been able to create a fund on P2P that will be used exclusively to support women's loans.

P2P is 501(c)3 non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.

May 22nd, 2014 - Gilbert Gong Perpetual Fund

Poverty2Prosperity.org is pleased to announce it's tenth fund, the Gilbert Gong Perpetual Fund. We're excited to have already made 68 loans in this fund and look forward to helping those in need start their own businesses and lift themselves out of poverty.

P2P is 501(c)3 non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.

2013 Progress Note

Poverty2Prosperity.org had a solid year in 2013, but a bit quieter as we added just one more perpetual fund, but an important one. Thanks to Scott Banister, we created P2P's first Zip fund and made 50 loans in it before the end of the year. If you have an interest in seeing more Zip loans made, you can make a donation to this fund on the donations page linked below and above.

We currently have 9 funds that we manage and you can see read about them on the Funds Summary page (link can be found at the top of any page of the site). Donations may be made to specific funds through our donations page which is also linked at the top of every page of the site.

We also managed to break through the 6,000 loan milestone with a total of 6,210 loans. The best part is as donations come in combined with our 99%+ repayment rate, we are able to make more loans every single month.

Team P2P is racing towards the $3 Million mark in loans as we passed the $2.5 Million mark easily. Thank you very much, Team P2P for supporting Poverty2Prosperity.org with your loaning! That's almost 85,000 loans! Wow!

We also created a Donations Thank You Gift Area in which we provide goods made by our borrowers in exchange for a donation. These items make wonderful gifts for others too. You can find the link to this area on our donations page as well.

Amazon has created the Smile program through which you can participate in helping P2P. If you use the following link to begin your shopping experience at Amazon.com, (you go to the same home page you are used to), P2P gets a percentage of your purchase price as a donation over time. The link is below:

We'd really like to thank our 2013 donors who helped make this a solid year of delivering help-outs to afford people a chance to lift themselves out of poverty!

April 4th, 2014 - Memorial Wall Perpetual Fund

Poverty2Prosperity.org, a San Francisco based U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is announcing the creation of the Memorial Wall Perpetual Fund to help folks remember loved ones in a way that honors them by spreading kindness around the world through a help-out rather than a hand-out. Since the P2P funds average about a 99% repayment rate, this perpetual fund will go indefinitely into the future helping the working poor one person after another. The Memorial Wall can be seen by clicking here. The first two Memorial Wall honorees are Cassandre Jade, Susanne Chassay, and Linda B. Klein and the first loan was made to the Mai Group from Vietnam.

The minimum donation to have a person listed on the wall is $100. Colors denote donation levels: $100 - $250 - $500 - $1000 or more

The fund will follow the standard asset allocation protection plan that regular P2P funds use when selecting loans.

March 29th, 2014 - Cassandre Jade Memorial Perpetual Fund

Poverty2Prosperity.org, a San Francisco based U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is announcing the creation of the Cassandre Jade Memorial Perpetual Fund Donations to this fund may be made on the Donations page.

Cassandre was more than just a friend to people, she was someone who could be counted on to lend a hand and be there when you needed her. Her specialty was loving other people through her kindness, unselfishness, and big heart. Cassandre passed away in March 2014, but her willingness to help other people will be remembered and honored by this fund that will do the same for people around the world. The first three loans focused on providing help in conflict zones, areas where credit/banking is scarce, and sustainable businesses.

Poverty2Prosperity.org, a San Francisco based U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is announcing the creation of the Susanne Chassay Memorial Perpetual Fund.

Susanne was an insightful and wonderfully smart person who worked as a psychotherapist in Northern California. She passed away in late 2013 and will be sorely missed by everyone. The fund will make loans around the world with a slight focus on Asia. The first loan in the fund was to the Phu Sun 3 Group in Vietnam.

2012 Progress Note

Poverty2Prosperity.org had a really exciting year in 2012 and we're only just getting around to telling everyone about it. Here are the highlights from last year.

SOS Loan Fund

In July, P2P unveiled its fifth perpetual fund account called the SOS Loan Fund. The goal of this new fund, managed by P2P, will be to help fund loans that are in danger of expiring. This fund was created with a founding contribution from Tony Gooch.

The SOS Loan fund has already made over 450 loans in 35 different countries with 389 of them being funded before expiration. We invite users to join us on loans and you can view which loans are currently funding in the SOS Loan Fund at the following link:

https://poverty2prosperity.org/sosloans/

We are thankful for a number of generous donations to the fund. If you wish to help this fund prevent loan expirations or make a donation to any of our other funds, please see the P2P donations page at the following link:

https://poverty2prosperity.org/donations.html

Poverty2Prosperity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and donations are usually tax deductible. Consult your accountant or tax advisor to find out details for your situation.

Minh Nguyen Individual Perpetual Fund

P2P allows for the creation of Individual Perpetual Funds. If a donor comes forward and makes at least a $2,500 donation, we create a new fund/account with the purpose of making loans perpetually according to the donor's lending preference (agreed upon between P2P and the donor). In March, we added the Minh Nguyen Individual Perpetual Fund as our 3rd managed fund. This fund has made over 500 loans so far.

Any donation is appreciated. If you make at least a $25 donation into either the P2P General, the P2P Perpetual Fund, or the SOS Loan Fund, you can select the first loan to be made with those funds. Future lending is managed by P2P.

P2P Lending Team

The P2P Lending Team has over 2,700 members who are attributing their loans towards the team stats. On October 29th, the team broke through the $2,000,000 mark in total dollars lent to date. By the end of the year, the team had made nearly 65,000 total loans.

We'd really like to thank our 2012 donors who helped make it our best year so far. We're looking forward to contiuing to provide poverty relief through microloaning in 2013!

2011 Progress Note

We've had a busy year at Poverty2Prosperity.org (P2P) and we wanted to take a moment at the beginning of 2012 to review some of the milestones we've reached.

P2P started out with one Perpetual Fund and this year, thanks to generous donations from Minh Nguyen and Scott Banister, we've added two additional Perpetual Funds to our list of portfolios.

As noted on our web site, individual Perpetual Funds can be created with a donation of $5,000 or more to P2P allowing you to follow your individual Perpetual Fund loaning. Donations can also be made to our general Perpetual fund in any amount through the web site (Click Here). These accounts are managed by P2P and are perpetually loaned into the future.

Our General Fund account recently passed the 1,000 loan mark. The funds in this account are primarily used for loaning but if a poverty alleviating project sparks our interest, these funds are available for that as well.

In all, P2P has made over 2,000 loans (2,076) with a phenomenal repayment rate of 99.91%. Perpetual loaning accounts for 46.4% of our loaning activity.

P2P has also been involved in raising funds for the Mirembe Community College program in Uganda in 2009 and again in 2011. We helped bring about a cooking/catering school, beauty school, and post graduation programs.

We're looking forward to making loans all year long in 2012. Nothing excites us more except getting to do even more loans when generous folks entrust us with their donations.

Poverty2Prosperity.org is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
